Would you like to be our next student intern?
The Western Norway Brussels Office (VNB) is looking for a student intern for the spring semester 2027. We are looking for a flexible and service-oriented person who has an interest in – and some knowledge of – the EU and the EEA.
West Norway Brussels Office is one of six Norwegian regional offices in Brussels. Since 2003, the office has functioned as a link between regional actors in West Norway and other regions in Europe. We do this by disseminating information about what is happening in the EU/EEA, by highlighting the region as a partner, and by identifying current programs and project funds that may be relevant to the Vestland region.
About the internship program
As a student intern, you will become part of the daily operations of the office and gain relevant work experience from the EU capital.
The internship scheme is open to students with a relevant study background, for example from political science, comparative politics, journalism, administration and management, law or economics. As the scheme is unpaid, it is a requirement that the stay is included as part of the course of study and that you receive credits for being in practice. This is in order to be able to receive an Erasmus+ mobility grant in addition to support from the Loan Fund. Students without integrated practice will not be considered.
We encourage students from VNB's member institutions to apply. These include Volda University College, Molde University College, HVL and VID.
The internship program is open to other students and can sometimes be included as part of the collaboration with the University of Bergen. UiB students who take the course SAMPOL291 qualify, but must apply via the university's application portal.
In the event of equal assessment of candidates, students from VNB's member institutions will be given priority.
Job duties:
Follow and report on policy developments in the EU, with particular focus on topics and issues that are relevant to the members of VNB
Contribute content to the newsletter and SoMe
Assist with member visits and events
Represent the office at seminars and meetings
Process requests from members
Administrative tasks
Other pending work
Qualifications:
Must be pursuing higher education at university or college level
Credit-granting practices
Good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian and English. Knowledge of French or other EU languages is an advantage, but not a requirement
Good ICT skills
Flexible and service-oriented
There is an advantage with:
Knowledge of the EU/EEA
Knowledge of the Vestland region and the member institutions of VNB
Experience with communication work
In a small office, it is necessary to be able to work independently and take responsibility, while the ability to collaborate is important. VNB is a representative office and one should be open and act professionally.
The application deadline is Wednesday, November 4. We ask that you send your application, CV, and copies of diplomas and any certificates in one PDF file by email to European Councillor Anna Solvang: anna.solvang@west-norway.no .
