Brussels is an important meeting place for European politics and cooperation. VNB facilitates our members to gain insight, build networks and become better acquainted with the EU and EEA system through study visits and internships at the office.

VNB arranges visits to Brussels for groups from our member organizations. We regularly welcome delegations from Western Norway who want to be updated on what is happening in the EU and the work of VNB. The program is adapted to the theme, subject area and objectives of the visit, and may include meetings with EU institutions, Norwegian and European organizations, networks or other relevant professional environments.

Observation
Working from Brussels for a period
VNB offers internships for employees and elected representatives in its member organizations. An internship provides an opportunity to delve deeper into a subject area, develop a project idea, build networks or gain greater insight into the EU and the EEA.
The stay can last from a few days to several months, depending on the purpose and capacity of the office. The content is planned in collaboration between the intern, the employer and VNB.

How long should the stay last?
The length should be adapted to the purpose. A short stay can provide professional enrichment and new contacts, while a longer stay provides better opportunities to work on projects, build networks and become familiar with the EU system.
Practical information
VNB offers office space, internet and access to meeting rooms. The intern must bring their own computer and organize travel and accommodation. Financial arrangements must be clarified with the employer.
VNB accepts requests on an ongoing basis. There is usually only capacity for one intern at a time. Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) has its own scheme. HVL sends an employee as a trainee to VNB for a period of three months, twice a year. The traineeship is advertised internally at HVL.
Student intern in Brussels
VNB usually accepts one student intern each semester. The intern participates in the daily work of the office and gains experience in European politics, communication, events and regional cooperation.
The internship position is advertised for one semester at a time.
