Funding opportunities within civil emergency preparedness
West Norway Brussels Office (VNB) organizes monthly webinars for its members. The theme for the April edition was the EU's work on civil preparedness, with a focus on funding opportunities for actors in our region.
During the webinar, we had Per Øyvind Semb, who works as a national expert in the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO) of the European Commission, with us. Semb talked about his work with civil protection in the Commission and about the EU's civil protection mechanism (Union Civil Protection Mechanism, UCPM). Norway is a member of the UCPM and there are several opportunities here that may be interesting for our members.
There are funding schemes within UCPM that municipalities, counties and others can apply for:
Technical Assistance for Disaster Management
Provides financial support for strategy development within crisis resilience. More info here .
Knowledge for Action in Prevention and Preparedness (KAPP)
Provides support for international projects and exercises with partners from three or more countries. More info here .
Technical Assistance Financing Facility for Disaster Prevention and Preparedness (TAFF)
Provides support for risk management activities. More info here
The Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Preparedness (DSB) is the national contact point for UCPM. Norwegian stakeholders can contact the international section at DSB directly ( postmottak@dsb.no ). Further information about the funding schemes can be found on DSB's website .
VNB hopes to initiate applications from West Norway on these funds. There may also be good potential for collaboration between several members. We ask interested members to contact us for more information about opportunities in UCPM, or to notify us if you plan to apply.
