We are the representative office of Western Norway in the EU.
Since 2003, West Norway Brussels Office helped to make Western Norway more visible in European cooperation.
VNB organizes events that showcase the region in Brussels and is a guide for Western Norwegian actors who want to find their way in the EU system. VNB hosts delegations and visits from home, and facilitates meetings with European partners and Norwegian representatives in the EU capital. For our members, we contribute both professional programs and meeting rooms, and we accept interns and student interns.
Events
VNB arranges, alone and in collaboration with others, seminars, courses and meetings both in Western Norway and in Brussels. We develop courses where members can learn more about the EU/EEA and the various programmes in which Norway participates. We organise seminars in Brussels where important issues for the region are put on the agenda, and we showcase Western Norway through events in connection with the EU's theme weeks and other major events in Brussels.
VNB also participated with professional contributions at events held by its members in Western Norway, and provided an overview of EU events that may be relevant to them.
Delegations and study visits
Both in public administration, business and civil society, there is great interest in visiting Brussels and becoming familiar with the EU system and the impact it has on Norway.
VNB welcomes a large number of visitors, and shares insights from our work with many Norwegian delegations. We prioritize visitors from Western Norway. For delegations from member institutions, we provide both professional programs and free access to premises in Norway House, in the middle of the EU quarter in Brussels.
Employees of the members who are on assignment in Brussels can have access to a workplace with us. VNB and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences has a permanent agreement on shadowing for HVL employees .
VNB also accepts student interns, who apply through their educational institution.
Norway House
VNB is hosted in Norway House, together with the Norwegian EU Delegation and a number of Norwegian organizations, agencies and businesses.
Norges Hus is located directly across the street from the headquarters of the European Commission, Berlaymont, within walking distance of all the central EU institutions. We have our offices here, and VNB members have access to meeting rooms and a conference hall.
