The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (NIMR) is one of the largest marine research institutes in Europe, with approximately 1,050 employees. The institute conducts research, monitoring and advice within marine ecosystems, fisheries, aquaculture and climate, and is headquartered in Bergen.

HI has research stations along the Norwegian coast and a modern research fleet that contributes to developing knowledge about the ocean and ensuring sustainable management of marine resources. The institute collaborates closely with research communities and governments nationally and internationally.

Through membership in West Norway Brussels Office The Institute of Marine Research strengthens its collaboration with Europe and gains access to insight, networks and opportunities within research, innovation and international projects.
