Kvam Municipality is located in Hardanger, with Norheimsund as its administrative center. The county has about 8,500 inhabitants and is known for its beautiful nature, a varied business community and a rich cultural offering.

The industry is strong with businesses in metal production, shipbuilding, and aquaculture. Tourism is also important, and Kvam is an attractive area for tourists. The Hardanger Maritime Centre (Hardanger Fartøyvernsenter) is located in the municipality, dedicated to restoring and preserving traditional wooden vessels and maritime crafts.
